McLaren to feature bespoke OKX livery at Asian double-header

NEWS STORY
27/09/2022

McLaren and OKX have unveiled a bespoke celebration livery to be carried on the MCL36s at the Singapore and Japanese Grands Prix.

The livery enhances McLaren's Fluro Papaya colourway with neon pink embellishments and dynamic, cyberpunk-inspired engine illustrations. The effervescent design represents the emergence of new technologies from the region, with a look to the future inspired by the cityscapes of Singapore and Japan, where Formula 1 returns for the first time since 2019.

The livery spearheads the "Future Mode" campaign, signifying McLaren and OKX's future-facing partnership. The two brands are aligned in their values of innovation and accessibility, with OKX evolving its platform every day and McLaren constantly pushing on its journey back towards the front of the grid.

As the second largest crypto exchange by trading volume, OKX is striving to introduce new fans to Formula 1 through its innovative and engaging capabilities. This includes maximising Web3, with a commitment to guide McLaren in revolutionising the team's digital collectible and metaverse strategy.

For the entire 2022 Singapore Grand Prix (30 September - 2 October) and 2022 Japanese Grand Prix (7 October - 9 October) race weekends, the Future Mode livery will be carried on both MCL36 F1 cars, and reflected on the race suits of McLaren F1 drivers Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo.

A limited-edition McLaren Racing x OKX Future Mode t-shirt will be made available to fans through the McLaren store.

The F1 22 game will feature the Future Mode livery for fans to use in-game and race themselves, available from 11 October.

"We're excited to celebrate our partnership with OKX through this bold and vibrant livery for the upcoming races in Asia," said Zak Brown. "McLaren and OKX are united in driving ahead and constantly striving to break boundaries, and the Future Mode campaign is an opportunity to champion these values together on our global stage.

"It's fantastic to be returning to race in Singapore and Japan, and these incredible circuits provide a fitting backdrop for us to celebrate our partnership vision together."

"It was incredibly fun for us and McLaren to co-design the livery for Asia," added Haider Rafique, Chief Marketing Officer, OKX. "This new livery signals the arrival of bold new technology, and that is what OKX is all about. The cyberpunk design we created celebrates the influence of Web3 on popular culture and brings this exciting partnership to life on the racetrack. Making its debut at the night race in Singapore, this future-facing design mirrors the 24/7 nature of OKX and the cryptocurrency markets that never sleep. We are far from done when it comes to pushing the boundaries of financial opportunity, and I can't wait for the fans to experience what OKX and McLaren have in store for them."

"OKX will go the way of the dodo bird. At least their money will help sustain one of the historical F1 teams so they'll be able to put that into the history books."

"The engine illustrations on the side are nice but overall it just clashes with the livery. Should have revamped it massively instead of adding colours in photoshop with minimal effort."

"@ Motorsport-fan

If you think that's bad, you should see what they had Ricciardo doing a few days ago... it was way beyond cringe"
