Teams differ on Suzuka tyre sets

NEWS STORY
27/09/2016

While there was comparatively little difference between the teams in the tyre set selections for this weekend's Malaysia Grand Prix, things will be a little different a week later when they arrive in Japan.

Despite having the same hard, medium and soft compounds available, the teams' selections sees some of the most noticeable variations we've witnessed all season.

Indeed, the leading five teams, Mercedes, Red Bull, Ferrari, Force India and Williams, vary wildly in their choices with the German outfit opting for nine sets of soft and their Austrian rivals just six.

The difference of opinion, though not as varied, is reflected in the hard and medium sets, which also sees a number of drivers opt for a different strategy to their teammate.

As ever, Force India is among the most conservative, while Ferrari is among the most aggressive, the Italian team taking nine sets of the yellow-banded tyres.
