Teams reject refuelling

NEWS STORY
05/06/2015

It is understood that teams are to reject proposals for the return of refuelling.

One of the few moves announced following the most recent meeting of the controversial Strategy Group, the return of refuelling was widely seen, by drivers and fans, in a negative light.

Other than the cost involved, it is widely believed that the practice was previously banned (in 2009) both on safety grounds and the fact that it made the racing processional.

Odd then that the Strategy Group mooted its return as a bid to 'spice up' the show.

It's understood that at a meeting of the teams in Montreal yesterday, ahead of this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix, the teams rejected the return of refuelling on the grounds of cost, safety and that it leads to processional racing.

More should come to light at today's technical directors' press conference.

"Oh, for constructive feedback, instead of just complaining...

Ground-effect floor, wings for stability - not downforce, tire that lasts 3/4th (or 2/5th) of a race, no refueling.
Go flat out... figure out whether to under cut or not based on what you think is best.

Damn... that almost sounds like the 1st generation GP2 car! That was racing! (on a budget no less)

"Well, first piece of sanity to come out of this.
With refueling the strategy will be completely decided by computers.
Mr. Wolff summarized it perfectly when he said that Hamilton's pitstop didn't make common sense, but the computer said it was a good idea.... that's exactly why F1 isn't fun anymore.
Again (like in the refueling era) I tend to skip F1 over GP2 or WSR races.

Btw... Stoffel Vandoorne in Barcelona GP2 race 1... probably the best race ever since Hamilton in GP2 Turkey. And I'll bet you that guy doesn't get an F1 chance, being McLaren junior determinately doesn't help."

"Sad news. That is why teams should not be allowed to rule the sport."
