Drivers warned on Turn 11 track limits

NEWS STORY

As in Austin, stewards in Mexico have warned that drivers exceeding track limits will be punished.

At the Circuit of the Americas, following the opening day of practice, Charlie Whiting revealed that there would be zero-tolerance showed to drivers who exceeded the track limits at Turn 19.

This weekend, despite every driver struggling for grip yesterday, the FIA's race director has warned that a similar attitude will be taken towards drivers who exceed the limits at Turn 11.

"If a driver crosses the kerb on the exit of turn 11 during qualifying and, as a result, no part of the car remains in contact with the red and white section of the kerb, the lap time of the driver concerned will be deleted by the stewards," he warned.

"During the race a black and white flag will be shown to any driver who clears the red and white section of the kerb three times, any further occurrence will then be reported to the stewards. Each time any car clears the red and white section teams will be informed via the official messaging system."

During the course of last weekend's qualifying session and the race a number of drivers were warned by their teams including championship leader Lewis Hamilton.
