Most expensive donuts... ever

NEWS STORY
27/10/2013

Red Bull has been fined 25,000 for Sebastian Vettel's post-race celebrations after winning his fourth successive title today.

At the end of today's Indian Grand Prix, rather than heading to parc ferme, the German drove down the pit straight and stopped in front of the main grandstand. After performing a number of (perfect) donuts the 26-year-old climbed from his car, kissed the tarmac and then headed towards the crowd, throwing his gloves to the thousands out out-stretched hands.

However, all this is contrary to the regulations and it was feared the race stewards would take action... which they did.

The fact that Vettel “failed to proceed directly from the circuit to the post race parc ferme without unnecessary delay." a breach of Article 43.3 of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations, earned the German driver a reprimand, though the stewards, due to the special circumstances accepted the his explanation.

However, for failing to instruct Vettel sufficiently to return directly to post race parc ferme, Red Bull was fined 25,000 euros.

"I imagine the Red Bull team will consider it a small price to pay under the circumstances. Such an achievement deserves to be exuberantly celebrated. As a fan, it certainly was fun to watch!"

"Not fan of SV but kudos to him for celebrating as he did. F1 is so sterile these days it's great to see him let loose a bit. And kudos as well to the stewards for realizing that it was a special occasion and letting him away with it."

"Burnout !!! AWESOME,, I knew someone would get fined,,, BUT well worth it..
I'm not a Vettel fan, but seeing the post race show from him helped....
Poor Webber,,They will NEVER let him win.......
BTW, why is the race NOT on next years schedule ???
Is it because of all the empty seats ??
In a country where cricket rules, I would guess that F1 is probably TOO exciting,,, although this race wasn't.."

"I am sure that is one fine Red Bull will be more than happy to pay. The Stewards are quite right to apply the rules and IMHO opinion have done so sensibly because the donuts are the sort of thing that SHOULD happen.

Well done Seb and congrats to all at Red Bull from a Ferraristi."
