Red Bull to end team orders

NEWS STORY

Christian Horner has revealed that in the wake of the Sepang saga his team will abandon the use of team orders.

The aftermath of a controversial Malaysian Grand Prix in which Sebastian Vettel defied team orders to hold position behind teammate Mark Webber has already dominated the first day of the Chinese Grand Prix weekend with the media determined to keep things going.

However, aware of the continued bad feeling, Horner revealed that team owner, Dietrich Mateschitz, has said he wants no repeats of the Malaysia maelstrom.

"I had discussions with Dietrich and we agreed that Red Bull is not a fan of team orders," the Englishman told reporters. "Therefore we will not impose team orders at the end of a race. However, we expect the drivers to act on the information they have from the team."

At the official FIA press conference, Webber, sporting a stark new hair-cut, was the centre of attention while, further along the pitlane, Vettel was holding court.

With the German claiming that he had never received any support from his teammate and making it quite clear that should such a situation arise again he would have no qualms in doing it all over again, it appears we could be in for an interesting summer.
