Fisichella Motor Sport International has announced that Andreas Zuber will compete for the team in the 2009 GP2 International Series. Furthermore, Zanarini Management, which is run by FMSI Team Principal Enrico Zanarini, has signed Zuber to its roster and will be responsible for the management of the Austrian's motor racing career.

No stranger to FMSI, Zuber initially signed up for the first two races of the 2008/09 GP2 Asia Series with the Italian outfit. He competed in Shanghai and Dubai in order to forge a close working relationship with FMSI ahead of the planned GP2 International Series campaign. This decision was taken after a successful pre-season testing programme.

Zuber has great experience of GP2, with the 25-year-old having enjoyed three season in the main series. He was a race winner with Trident Racing in Istanbul in 2006 and then moved to iSport for 2007, where he took a win at Silverstone. He raced for Piquet Sports in 2008 and finished ninth in the championship. In addition to his Turkey and UK race wins, he has scored six further GP2 podiums and is determined to make 2009 with FMSI the year he makes a serious championship bid.

At the same time, Zuber has enlisted Zanarini Management to guide his future career. The company is the brainchild of Enrico Zanarini, manager of Eddie Irvine, Giancarlo Fisichella and Max Biaggi.

Andreas Zuber: "From the first moment I stepped into the cockpit of the FMSI Dallara, I felt that it was the race car I wanted to drive in the international GP2 Series this year. I immediately established a good relationship with my engineer and the crew and, in the end, it was an easy decision to make. Together we decided to enter the first two races of the GP2 Asia Series as part of the preparation ahead of the Paul Ricard test in March. I am now concentrating on my training programme and spending as much time as I can on the race simulator to get ready for the most important season of my career."

Paolo Coloni, Team Principal, FMSI: "We wanted Andreas to driver for us in 2008 and unfortunately he opted for another team. I have learned never to give up so I invited him to test our car. Last season we were extremely competitive, especially in the last couple of races, and I wanted him to experience that and not just hear it from me. I am so glad he has made the decision to join FMSI because we need his speed and experience to clinch that championship victory that we have been chasing for the past three years."

Enrico Zanarini: "Two birds with one stone, that is what I have got. Signing Andreas for the team and for my management scheme is a double satisfaction for me. We have both agreed that 2009 is a make or break year for him and we will spare no time or efforts to make sure that the perfect job is done. We have already started to reorganize his training program and to build a commercial network behind him. He will not have to deal with any other aspect of his career that is not related to racing."
