Official: Red Bull reveals 2007 engine strategy

NEWS STORY
31/10/2006

Red Bull has announced that, as from 2007, the Scuderia Toro Rosso team will use Ferrari engines and Red Bull Racing will use Renault engines.

Although such a strategy was never really in doubt, it remained for Red Bull GmbH to reach an agreement with Ferrari, since its lead team - Red Bull Racing - was in the first of a two-year deal with the Italian manufacturer, which had signed a specific agreement with the Milton Keynes based outfit.

In Mid-September, Renault announced that it was to supply Red Bull GmbH, leaving the Austrian company to dot the is and cross the ts, as far as Ferrari was concerned.

Today's announcement means that Adrian Newey can fully focus on the 2007 Red Bull-Renault, though Toro Rosso is likely to use the same chassis anyway.
