3 more years for Red Bull?

NEWS STORY
20/10/2006

Red Bull boss, Dietrich Mateschitz, has said that he only intends running the company for a further three years, until he reaches the age of 65, thereby placing a huge question mark over the future of both Red Bull Racing and Scuderia Toro Rosso.

In an interview with Format magazine, Mateschitz talks about his plans for the future, and in doing so reveals some astonishing figures relating to his company's marketing expenditure.

According to the Austrian, Red Bull's marketing expenditure in 2005 was "scarcely" €700m (£470m), and will increase to €900m (£605m) this year. This compares to Red Bull's net earnings in 2005, which were €412.8m (£277.5m), of which €35.1m (£23.5m) ultimately went to Mateschitz.

Having dismissed talk of a job offer with the Austrian government, Mateschitz reveals that although aged 62, he intends continuing to run Red Bull for a further three years until he is 65.

He doesn't mention either of the F1 teams, however, if it is his intention to sell up, one has to ask who would be willing to purchase the outfits, both of which were purchased in order to prevent losing them from the grid.
