Hamilton: No further action over yellow flag infringement

NEWS STORY
04/12/2021

The Jeddah stewards have opted to take no further action over Lewis Hamilton's alleged failure to respect double yellow flags/lights.

The race director reported to the stewards that the double yellow flag warning on the FIA Marshalling System was activated at Light Panel Number 6 accidentally, for less than 1 second during FP3.

As the on-board video of Hamilton's car (to be released by the Commercial Rights Holder following this Decision) clearly shows, there was no yellow flag displayed, no yellow lights were displayed to that driver and the yellow warning light was not visible on the driver’s steering wheel.

Unlike other incidents this year, there was no yellow flag or yellow light displayed to the driver (the driver already being well into the marshalling sector when the system was briefly activated) hence no breach of the regulations has occurred.

"The problem here is that stewards‘ decision was not executed. They clearly wrote that „onboard video is to be released“ but it’s still nowhere to find. This supports the argument whether Lewis saw the board or not.
I believe it was not visible, no reason not to trust stewards, but would like to see myself."

"@Stitch431 Max actually had a yellow flag to see, Lewis didn't. I know facts don't usually come into an cogent argument in 2021 but you can't seriously think that a penalty can be applied when no flags or lights are shown to the driver at all?"

"@jcr the difference is the yellow flags actually showing if you read the article. However, I'm guessing you probably didn't do that. So, it's pretty simple."

"Whats the difference between yellow flags by a rogue marshall,
and yellow lights by a steward with finger trouble"

"Aha, Verstappen gets a five-place grid penalty and Lewis walks away with it. The FIA wants to see Lewis as a world champion it seems to me."
