Yas Marina Test Notes - Manor

NEWS STORY
01/12/2015

Manor completed its planned programme in today's tyre test in Abu Dhabi, with the MR03B continuing to underline its credentials as one of the most reliable cars in F1 history.

The 115 laps achieved today bring the total mileage tally for the MR03/MR03Bs to an incredible 44,798kms. Chassis 2, Will Stevens' race car and today's test car, completed an impressive 20,001kms of those single-handedly.

At the wheel today were 22 year old Indonesian Rio Haryanto and the team's 2015 Development Driver, 21 year old Briton, Jordan King. Both competed in this year's GP2 Series, where the team has been keeping an eye on their significant progress this season.

Rio conducted the morning session, completing 56 laps and achieving a fastest lap time of 1:49.593. Jordan, driving a Formula 1 car for the first time in his racing career, took over the reins this afternoon and achieved 59 laps, posting an impressive time of 1:49.661 considering this was his first outing.

Rio Haryanto: "It has been quite a while since I last tested a Formula 1 car, with Manor in fact in 2012. The cars of today though are quite a lot different, especially in respect of the new engine developments, so it took some time to get use to the changes, especially the engine management. As the morning progressed though, I was improving all the time and with no issues, I could really get into the programme. Obviously this was Pirelli's test, so the programme was determined by their requirements, but I am pleased with the job I did and very happy to have another opportunity to drive a Formula 1 car and show what I can do. I would like to thank Manor for this chance and all my partners for continuing to support me."

Jordan King: "My first time at the wheel of an F1 car has been an incredible experience and I can't thank Manor enough for providing me with this opportunity. Today's Pirelli test had a very specific focus and I was determined to make the most of this chance to show my development capability as well as my potential for the future. We had a trouble-free day, so I could really get stuck into the plan, and this enabled me to build my confidence as the afternoon progressed. I was really fortunate to drive the car for 59 laps and I'm pleased with my lap time considering all the elements of the programme. I can't wait to do it again sometime. Soon, I hope!"
