It's that pesky bloody 'Priest' again!

NEWS STORY
19/05/2009

You have our word that we don't watch the programme - and sincerely hope that none of our readers do either - but those of you who do watch the dreadful Britain's Got Talent on Saturday evening may have recognised one of the acts.

There, doing an Irish "soft jig" in front of Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden was the infamous 'priest' Neil Horan, the man who caused chaos at the 2003 British Grand Prix.

Race fans will never forget the sight of the man running down the track during the middle of race, causing Mark Webber to take emergency evasive action.

While marshals attempted to capture the kilt wearing maniac, the race was turned on its head, producing, ironically, one of the best races in years.

Speaking after the event, Max Mosley said he didn't understand why Horan's interference had resulted in such a great race, though the rest of us fully understood. Due to Horan's track invasion the standard race strategy was turned on its head leaving the field pretty much reversed, consequently drivers were forced to overtake to re-take their original positions.

In the aftermath, it was revealed that Horan - an unfrocked priest - has a history of such stunts including disrupting the Marathon at the 2004 Olympics, and attempting to gate-crash the 2006 World Cup in Germany while carrying an "Adolf Hitler was a good leader who was following the word of Christ" banner. Horan, who was defrocked as a priest in 2005, has since undergone psychiatric treatment.

Incredibly, despite Simon Cowell's dislike of Horan's act, the Irishman was voted through by the other two judges.

The producers of the show insist they knew nothing of his past - though ten seconds on Google might have helped - and claim his inclusion in the show is not an attempt to attract further publicity. As if!

"Neil attended auditions to display his talent at Irish dancing and his past only came to light following his performance," they said in a statement.

Should you feel so inclined, Mr Horan can be found doing his jig on YouTube. May God forgive us.
