F1 about to be hit by a bombshell?

NEWS STORY

The FIA has announced that it is to appeal against the decision of the race stewards at Imola whereby Jenson Button retains third place.

The stewards investigated the BAR following yesterday's race, and it was almost six hours before they reached a decision.

As previously reported, the focus of the investigation was the weight of the Englishman's car, following claims that the car was 'at times during the race' underweight, and therefore illegal.

The FIA's decision to appeal the decision is bound to send shockwaves along the pitlane as there are now rumours that the car was found to be running a secret fuel tank.

One source - with a flamboyant passion for puns - described the issue as explosive.

Furthermore a source at a leading F1 team claims that the Brackley-based team has been running its cars underweight for almost a year.
