McLaren

McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Team continued their performance progression with a double podium finish in this afternoon's 2026 Miami Grand Prix, adding to the strong points haul secured in Saturday's Sprint victory, making them the most successful team of the weekend with a takeaway of 48 overall points in their championship bid.

In a Grand Prix where McLaren have previously experienced success for a number of years, Lando Norris climbed two places to secure P2 with an impressive drive. The defending World Champion ran closely with Pole sitter Andrea Kimi Antonelli throughout the race, battling hard and demonstrating the improved pace in the MCL40. The British driver put up a strong performance against the Mercedes works car that has led the pack all season, leading to Lando taking his points total for the weekend to 26.

Teammate Oscar Piastri worked hard after starting slightly further down the grid. Despite this, Oscar showed his race craft, working well through the field to gain four places, passing Charles Leclerc on the final lap to earn his second podium of the season with a P3 finish.

This weekend's performance from both cars showed that if execution and optimisation are maximised, victories can be achieved. However, with the closeness of competition and performance between four teams at this stage of the season, the smallest of margins can lead to potentially falling slightly behind the leading challengers we have seen in the opening four rounds of the 2026 season.

The introduction of the first phase of MCL40 developments delivered this weekend have proved successful across all sessions, and with further upgrades from the same group of initial evolution phase planned for the next championship round in Canada, the papaya team will continue to work hard towards gaining even more improvement in competitiveness.

With a week back at the factory available, the McLaren Mastercard team have plenty of learnings to build on to continue making a step in the right direction, as witnessed this weekend. Focus will remain on maximising performance and development across the chassis and power unit exploitation, while the drivers will continue to increase their time on the simulator ahead of the multiple competitive opportunities available in Montreal with the third Sprint race of the season.

Andrea Stella: "This was a very positive weekend for the entire team, and while you always want to convert a race lead into a victory, we are delighted with a double podium. It's a strong result that gives us a great sense of encouragement and satisfaction. We shouldn't forget where we started from this season: to have a weekend with a Sprint Quali Pole position, a Sprint Race 1-2 and a double podium today fighting for the victory until the last few laps shows the incredible progress we are making together as a team. This outcome doesn't change our positive momentum; it reinforces it.

"Our upgrades performed exactly as we had hoped, and I want to thank every single person back at McLaren for their talent and hard work that made this step forward possible. We know Mercedes still has a slight advantage; a couple of tenths, and we really need to rely on a perfect execution to be in condition to beat them at this stage. We lost some small margins in execution today, that we will review and improve back in Woking ahead of our next race in Canada.

"The development battle will be crucial this season with four teams in condition to fight for Pole position and victories. Our development pathway has lots in the pipeline, with parts planned for Canada and a few more in Monaco, and Spain. We are in the fight, and we believe this sets the stage for a very interesting championship battle for the fans and Formula 1."

Mercedes

Kimi Antonelli took victory in Sunday's Miami Grand Prix with George Russell battling hard to P4. After a four-week hiatus, F1 returned to action in Florida with the race start time shifting forward by three hours due to the threat of thunderstorms. Whilst there were the occasional drops of rain, the Grand Prix ran in dry conditions with Kimi starting on pole position and George P5. Kimi lost position on the opening lap to the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc and, as the pair battled in the early stages, the Italian was also challenged by the McLaren of Lando Norris. The Safety Car was deployed due to accidents for Hadjar and Gasly, with Kimi in P3 and George P4, having gained position on the McLaren of Oscar Piastri. Unfortunately, George lost that position on the restart but a successful undercut on lap 20 saw him move ahead of Leclerc who had dropped back, leaving Kimi and Norris fighting it out at the front. A similar undercut opportunity presented itself to Kimi meanwhile and he took it to pass Norris for the lead. From there, he worked hard to keep the McLaren at bay and managed it successfully. George battled hard too and passed the early stopping Verstappen in the closing stages before taking P4 from Charles Leclerc on the final lap.

The team now holds a 70-point lead over Ferrari in the Constructors' Championship with Kimi continuing to lead the Drivers' standings.

Toto Wolff: That was a fascinating and exciting race in Miami today. We knew coming into this weekend that our competitors were bringing large upgrade packages. We therefore knew we were likely to be a little on the back foot and face a real fight if we wanted to be in with a chance of winning. It wasn't easy for us at all this weekend, but we made some great strategic decisions, and that helped Kimi take the victory.

It was a tougher race on George's side of the garage. He's not a big fan of this circuit and hasn't been as happy as Kimi in the car this weekend. He's a real fighter though and that showed as he still managed to get good points by coming home in P4. I am sure he will bounce back strongly next time out in Canada.

We have seen this weekend that the season will be a true development race. We need to work hard as a team to continue to progress, not stand still, and bring performance to the track. We've had a solid start to the year but that can change very quickly. We won't be easing up, and we're excited for the challenge ahead.

Andrew Shovlin: Congratulations to Kimi on his third win of the season and the whole team on our fourth to start this campaign. After a tough Friday, everyone has rallied together to bounce back, and it is testament to those efforts that we come away from Miami with another P1 trophy. It was certainly a hard-fought win; strategically, the team made the right decisions and with some swift work in the pit lane, that helped Kimi get ahead of Norris and George ahead of Leclerc. Kimi showed good pace to keep the McLaren at bay and take a well-deserved win.

For George, whilst he has said that he underperformed this weekend, we will work hard in the coming days to understand why we weren't able to get his car into a better window for him. We know that George has much more pace than he was able to show here in Miami and he will come back stronger in Canada.

Coming into this weekend, we knew that our competitors would close the gap to us, but it has been eye-opening to see just how much performance they were able to bring. We now have two weeks before we head to Canada, and we will be redoubling our efforts to head there with a chance of making it five wins in-a-row to start 2026.

Red Bull

Laurent Mekies: "Our car is very different today to what it was five weeks ago in Japan when we were 1.2 seconds off pole. It's clear we still have a lot of work to do, but looking at our race pace today and our quali pace yesterday, I think we are on the right track. We brought upgrades, like almost everyone else, but on top of that we have been able to resolve some of the issues we had up until now and we found some lap time there too.

I have no problem repeating myself when I say we have a fantastic team of people back in Milton Keynes, and here at the race track, in my opinion the best talent in the paddock, and they must take the credit for this uptick in performance. It's been a strong united effort at 360 degrees, chassis side and PU side.

We also take home some very important learnings from this weekend on what to improve next, and we are well aware that much more is needed in order to compete again for the top spot. Max reminded us of how incredible he is when he can push with the car, sticking the RB22 on the front row yesterday and fighting for each millimetre of track today, coming through the entire field and surviving a 50ish lap long stint on the hard. Isack did not have a clean weekend and we did not help him with the back of the grid start due to our mistake yesterday. His initial pace in the race was strong and I have every confidence we will regroup back in MK and come back stronger for a smoother weekend in Montreal."

Ferrari

Scuderia Ferrari HP comes away from the Miami Grand Prix with a sixth and seventh place, which does not reflect the true potential of the SF-26, here running with its first aero update package of the season. At the Miami International Autodrome, Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton both fought long and hard, the pair involved in various incidents, on the final and opening laps respectively.

Charles delivered a very solid performance for much of the race. From third on the grid, he took the lead at the start by taking advantage of the tussle between Kimi Antonelli and Max Verstappen. He stayed among the leaders even after the Safety Car triggered by crashes involving Isack Hadjar and Pierre Gasly. He pitted on lap 21 and fought his way back up through traffic with a string of overtakes, which took him to third once he had passed George Russell and Verstappen. However, overtaking the Dutchman cost him considerable time which allowed Oscar Piastri to close the gap. The Australian was tucked into the Ferrari's slipstream with two laps to go and attacked at the final corner on the penultimate lap. Charles tried to defend to claim a podium finish, but he pushed very hard and spun at Turn 3, hitting the barriers. He still managed to take the chequered flag, but had to settle for sixth place.

Lewis also put up a strong fight, but his race was affected by a collision after the start with Franco Colapinto, which left his SF-26 with a damaged floor and right sidepod, which cost him some aero downforce. Hamilton still managed to run at a respectable pace, running in the points for a long time, eventually finishing seventh, behind his team-mate.

The result leaves a sense of regret given the performance potential seen on track. However, there are several positives to take away from the weekend such as the starts which continue to be excellent and the upgrades, which worked as expected, bringing extra performance to the package. The opportunity to bounce back comes in three weeks' time, at the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal.

Fred Vasseur: Overall, it was a challenging Sunday on both sides of the garage. With Lewis, the race was largely about managing the damage from lap one, which meant dealing with overheating and doing a lot of lift and coast just to bring the car to the finish. On Charles' side, the pace was strong in clean air and we were fighting at the front, but once we dropped into traffic it became more difficult and consistency was the main issue. There was a big performance delta between the part when Charles was leading and the later part of the race. It is something we need to look into, because it was a similar picture in yesterday's Sprint.

However, there are some positives to take from the weekend: the starts were good and the upgrades worked as expected. We know where we need to improve - consistency, managing traffic and extracting the full potential of the package.

WilliamsF1

James Vowles, Team Principal: "Well done to the team. It's great to see the hard work of the last five weeks, and the aero package all adding up, putting us in stronger place than we started the season. It's still a long road, but the positive news is that there's more performance to come throughout the rest of the season. Alex and Carlos worked incredibly well as a team today and as a result secured the best positions we could have. We stopped Alex first, which is different to what we would normally do, to ensure that he got ahead of Bearman and secured the points for the team. We have a couple of weeks now until Canada, and I'm looking forward to racing hard for the rest of the season."

RB

"A tough weekend for us. Firstly, we apologise to Pierre and Alpine for the incident; Liam's gearbox failed and broke fifth gear as he was braking for Turn 17, which caused him to collide with Pierre. It was a good fun first few laps though and who knows where it could have gone, a points finish could have been possible. For Arvid it was a race about learning, after missing the Sprint, he was on the back foot, but there's plenty to take away from this race, and his pace on the Hard tyres was very encouraging. Unfortunately, a point-less weekend for us, but we are going into Montreal with some more aero upgrades and full of confidence to have a good weekend."

Aston Martin

Mike Krack: "Our focus over the break was to work with Honda to improve the PU's vibrations into the chassis - that work has paid off and we have taken an important step forward on reliability this weekend. Whilst that is a positive, there's clearly more we need to do together to improve our pace and unlock the potential of this package."

Haas

TGR Haas F1 Team finished with Ollie Bearman 11th and Esteban Ocon 13th, at the Miami Grand Prix, held Sunday at the Miami International Autodrome.

Both Bearman and Ocon took the start on Pirelli P Zero Yellow medium tires, with Ocon cycling through from 14th to 13th, with Bearman slotting in behind. The Briton moved ahead of the sister VF-26 on the second lap, and both drivers made up positions when Pierre Gasly and Isack Hadjar suffered separate accidents on lap five, causing the safety car to be deployed.

Bearman preserved 11th place at the restart, ahead of Ocon, before coming into the pit lane on lap 26 for White hard tires. Ocon followed suit on lap 31, also taking on hard tires, and the pair re-emerged in 11th and 12th respectively. Bearman held position through to the checkered flag, while Ocon ceded one place to the Audi of Gabriel Bortoleto, coming home in 13th.

TGR Haas F1 Team sits in sixth position in the Constructors' Championship on 18 points.

Ayao Komatsu, Team Principal: "Overall, it's been a tough weekend, but we knew that, knowing our upgrade strategy, and we still came close to the top 10. We put ourselves in the position to score points, and we nearly did it, so we have to take the positives. This weekend gave us a few pointers on where we need to improve, regardless of update or spec, in terms of understanding car procedures and processes, so we'll do that before Montreal. I'm looking forward to having an upgrade and getting that working during a Sprint weekend straight from the get-go. We can be proud of ourselves, of what we've achieved so far, and I look forward to going to Canada."

Stake

Audi Revolut F1 Team endured a demanding weekend at the Miami Grand Prix, marked by mixed fortunes on race day. A turbulent opening lap brought an early end to Nico Hulkenberg's afternoon, while Gabriel Bortoleto delivered a determined recovery drive to finish just outside the points.

Despite missed opportunities - particularly with Nico showing clear points potential - the team leaves Miami looking forward to the next rounds. The collective resilience shown throughout the weekend, from the mechanics' intense recovery efforts to Gabriel's execution on track, provides positive takeaways heading into the short break before the next round in Montreal.

Allan McNish, Racing Director: "It's been a challenging weekend overall for us. Gabi delivered a very strong drive today, working his way back with good pace, composure and some well-judged overtaking that underlines the potential in the car. Equally, a lot of credit goes to the team, particularly the mechanics, who responded to a very difficult day yesterday with real determination and focus. That's the spirit that continues to push us forward.

"For Nico, it was frustrating. He was squeezed into Turn 1, which meant an early front wing change, and unfortunately a subsequent technical issue forced his retirement. From his starting position, he was very much in contention for points, so that's clearly disappointing.

"Our priority now is to ensure we consistently convert that potential into results. We will take the learnings from this weekend, reset over the break, and come back ready to maximise the opportunity in Montreal."

Alpine

Flavio Briatore: "It was two very different races for our drivers today. For Pierre, it is a disappointing outcome as the car was clearly competitive here for points so we have missed out as a result of an avoidable incident, as Pierre was the victim of a big misjudgement from another driver. We are glad Pierre could walk away unscathed, such is the safety of modern Formula One. On the other side, Franco has rounded off a really good week where he has performed at the level we expect him to at every race weekend. The car is competitive and it is these performances we need week in, week out from both drivers and the entire team for us to meet our objectives. We are P5 in the Constructors' Championship and we are looking forwards and not backwards on what we can achieve. We have a lot to review in the two weeks before Canada especially in regards to some of the new items on the car which might not have given Pierre the performance uplift we expected. Finally, credit to FIA and Formula One for their decisive action in bringing the race forward by three hours and ensuring the race could proceed as planned with an eye on the weather."

Alpine

The Cadillac Formula 1® Team secured a double-car finish in its first home race, the Miami Grand Prix, as Checo Perez passed the flag in P16 and Valtteri Bottas in P18.

The result is the American squad's third consecutive double Grand Prix finish, in addition to two double Sprint race finishes in its short history.

Graeme Lowdon, Team Principal: "This weekend has been a positive step forward for Cadillac Formula 1 Team. We got another double car finish in the race today, building on yesterday's double result in the Sprint, and were able to race with other cars on pace. We also know there are areas we need to refine and improve so there is more to come from us. We've increased the amount of data that we have access to by a huge amount and we will look to make another step forward in Montreal."

Dan Towriss, CEO, Cadillac Formula 1 Team Holdings: "I'm proud of the team this weekend. The pressure of racing for the first time on home soil, with our first significant upgrade package, has been huge, but the team and drivers have performed well. We're showing some real flashes of progress, which just makes us hungry for more."

Pirelli

After a break of several weeks, Formula 1 returned to action in Miami and once again it was Kimi Antonelli who claimed victory in a Grand Prix. The Mercedes driver secured his third successive win, stepping onto the top step of the podium today in Miami ahead of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.

The race was brought forward by three hours due to adverse weather forecasts for the originally scheduled start time of the Grand Prix. From the start, at 13:00 local time, the cars delivered plenty of action, with overtaking already in the opening laps. In the early stages, incidents involving Isack Hadjar and Pierre Gasly prompted the deployment of the Safety Car. The neutralisation was exploited by Max Verstappen and Valtteri Bottas, who brought forward their pit stops.

The Red Bull driver, after a difficult start, managed to rejoin the fight for the podium by switching from Medium tyres to a set of Hards on lap six. The Cadillac driver instead opted for Softs on the same lap, before stopping again on lap 21 to move onto Mediums.

Isack Hadjar was the only driver to start from the pit lane on Hard tyres, while the rest of the grid lined up on Mediums. Only the Aston Martin drivers mirrored Bottas' strategy, choosing Softs at the tyre change. With the exception of Bottas, Alonso and Stroll, all the others therefore switched to Hards. Strategies were almost exclusively one-stop, apart from Stroll and Bottas, who made two visits to the pit lane.

Dario Marrafuschi: The race was very straightforward from a strategic point of view, despite the uncertainty over possible rain remaining right up to the last moment. The only real variable was the Safety Car on lap six, which allowed some drivers, including Verstappen, to pit early and differentiate themselves from the rest of the field. In the Dutchman's case, this seems to have paid some dividends.

Beyond that, all drivers on the grid opted for the flexibility of starting on the Medium, with the majority replacing it within the window we had anticipated. The lower temperatures compared to previous days further reduced tyre degradation. A clear example was Verstappen's final stint of 51 laps on the Hard, completed without any need to manage the pace. The same trio of compounds will be used at the next round in Montreal in three weeks' time.
