Haryanto unsure of future

Rio Haryanto's future in F1 is unclear as manager admits he could be out of a drive by Germany.

The Indonesian driver's main backer is the state-owned oil company Pertamina, which is understood to have provided $5.48m (4.1m) in funding to keep the youngster's seat at Manor.

However, the funding provided thus far only lasts up to this weekend, leaving the remainder of the season in doubt.

"I don't know," his manager, Piers Hunnisett, told Reuters. "We've got to be positive and hope Rio will be in Germany.

"We've had many promises which haven't come true," he admitted. "We must keep working hard and it is our plan to be in Germany.

"We are in contact with various companies in Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore," he revealed, “especially in the future, races coming up in Malaysia and Singapore could be good for us. They're like home races for Rio. As the only representative in Formula One from Asia, you hope the whole of the Asian community can get onboard."

Reuters claims the total funding needed is around 15 million euros (12.5m).

For the most part the youngster has given a good account of himself, and certainly hasn't been 'left for dust' by his highly esteemed teammate, Pascal Wehrlein.
