Ferrari goes soft again in Germany

NEWS STORY
19/07/2016

Once again, Ferrari favours the softest tyre compound as it looks ahead to Germany.

Having opted to take nine sets of the softest compound to Hungary, the Maranello outfit is placing its faith very much in the red-banded tyres as F1 returns to Germany at the end of the month.

However, whereas in Hungary, Ferrari is the only team taking nine sets of supersofts, in Hungary Sauber and McLaren follow suit.

Mercedes and Red Bull will take eight sets of the supersofts while Force India, which can usually be relied on to try something different in terms of tyre strategy, takes just six.

Renault, Haas and Williams lead the way in terms of the softs, each taking five sets of the yellow-banded tyres, whilst Force India takes three sets of mediums at a time every other team is taking just one.

The soft and the medium compounds have to be used at least once during the race.
