"So, did FIA decide to *actually* make Jenson start somewhere near Laredo?

Oh, I know! We can just calculate the distance back that the driver would actually have to start if the grid continued that far back, and then have him start the appropriate number of laps down! Or receive a time penalty equal to the time needed to travel that distance on the course! It's BRILLIANT!

Come on, FIA, it's time to admit that the penalty system is ludicrous and to consider adopting NASCAR's rule on it--any unapproved engine or gearbox change, you start at the back of the field. If more than one car is to start at the back, then their order is set by qualifying speeds. It's simple, it penalizes the team without being downright farcical, and it's just as effective as this silliness."

"Actually . . . if it gave you a brand new, up to date engine, starting last might not be all that bad of a deal. (M.Schumacher did it at Monaco and ended up 5th? Several other have been relegated to the end of the line and still had very respectable finishes . . . . )
.
The trouble for McLaren and Honda is that nothing short of 16-18 cars failing during the race can make a slow car a winner!! Although they do better in "changeable" conditions, they don't improve as much as the Red Bulls seem to, so there must be enough fault to go around. (Between the PU and the chassis . . . which is the worse of the two?)

"well done on the visual, what a farce these penalties are. Jenson might as well start from the pit lane. Now one question remains, do Fernando and Jenson get to start in front or behind the safety car?"
