Singapore Grand Prix Preview - Alpine

NEWS STORY
06/10/2026

BWT Alpine Formula One Team makes the short trip from Sepang to Singapore for the famous night race around the city streets.

The Marina Bay Street Circuit is one of the most physically demanding on the entire calendar with the unrelenting lap featuring close walls and precise corners, all in humid, tropical conditions. Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto will aim to find the limit early on as Singapore hosts its first Sprint weekend, starting the competitive action after the sole Free Practice session on Friday. The first true running under the lights will come in Sprint Qualifying on Friday evening adding an extra element to the challenging circuit.

Pierre Gasly: "We head straight into another race week as we prepare for this weekend's Singapore Grand Prix. I drove down to Singapore on Monday as it is only a few hours from Sepang, so quite different to usual but a nice way to begin race week. It's a new challenge in Singapore this time with the Sprint weekend, which means we have to be very much on it straight away and have the car in a good set-up window. We are quite used to the conditions now given we raced in Malaysia last weekend where it was hot, humid and of course saw a lot of rain on race day. As a team we've debriefed and really taken the positives from last weekend where the car generally performed well. It was not the result we wanted but we took a gamble, it did not pay off and we are all firmly focused on racing again this weekend. We have a big task ahead of us with our rivals now quite far ahead in the Championship. A lot can happen between now and the end of the season, there are lots of points up for grabs and our target this weekend is to pick up points and make some progress towards our objective."

Franco Colapinto: "Following our race in Malaysia, we are making the short trip down to Singapore for one of the most extreme weekends of the season. The heat and humidity was quite a challenge in Sepang and it will be no different this weekend, just with the added nature of it being a street circuit. The track is relentless and so fun to drive. The mix of technical corners, bumpy surface and close walls, as well as being under the lights, makes it one of my favourites of the year. The conditions really reward commitment and we will need to find the right level early on as it is another Sprint weekend. Having two Qualifying sessions will be exciting and we will work hard to maximise both opportunities to put ourselves in a position to score points."
