Penalties before a wheel is turned

NEWS STORY
03/09/2015

McLaren and Red Bull teams face grid penalties before a wheel is turned at Monza.

The McLaren duo look set to repeat their Spa strategy, both drivers undergoing a double engine change, which whilst incurring a massive penalty would also effectively give them three 'free' engines for use later in the season.

Due to the power demands of the super-fast Monza circuit, Fernando Alonso has already admitted that he faces a difficult weekend, he and teammate Jenson Button having been with a (total) 55-place grid drop in Belgium.

There will be pain also for Red Bull and Toro Rosso, as all four drivers are expected to take on new engines which will take them beyond their allowed limit and thereby incur grid penalties.

"And just how is this 'GOOD' for the sport??? Seriously self-destructive draconian machinations. "
