Marchionne refuses to get carried away

NEWS STORY

Despite an impressive performance at Jerez, where drivers Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel ended the four day test first and second on the timesheets, the scarlet cars completing the fourth most mileage (960.2), Ferrari president Sergio Marchionne is keeping both feet firmly planted on the ground.

"I am encouraged by the performance of the new car, but it is one thing to do a quick lap and another to do them over an entire Grand Prix," he admitted in New York.

"I have so much confidence in the team and the work of the boys and they deserve time," he added. "I am proud of their work but we will see when the championship begins in Australia. There is still some way to go.

"I do not expect miracles, but it is important to see progress. At the Barcelona test I expect further proof of what we have done so far."

"Well he is Italian, so these comments are not a surprise! It will be the rest of company that will be interesting to watch when its spun out of Fiat, then the fun will start!

I would love to see some more Ferrari sports prototypes back in endurance racing. Pictures of the GTOs, P2, P3, 312p etc etc and of course the best car in the world the P4 continue to dominate the motor art and historic scene and rightly so......."
