Teams split on 2014 testing

NEWS STORY
09/05/2013

Not for the first time, the teams finds themselves at odds with one another, this time it's pre-season testing that is causing the disagreement.

Having come up with the current agreement, which allows for twelve days of pre-season testing, the teams are already looking ahead to 2014 aware that not only do they always need as much test mileage as possible but even more so in terms of the raft of new regulations, not least the new engine formula.

At a meeting of the Sporting Committee the teams failed to come up with an agreement; five calling for 12 days of testing which should get underway in January, five requesting 15 days of testing, also beginning in January, and one wanting just 12 days all limited to February.

If nothing else, it appears that the majority of teams are in favour of testing getting underway in January, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain and Qatar all having been mooted.

With Ferrari's request for the return of in-season testing having been rejected it is understood that the final decision on pre-season testing will be made by the FIA when its World council meets next month.
