Ecclestone: Everybody's happy

Following a meeting with the team bosses, Bernie Ecclestone declares that everyone is happy with the FIA's decision not to cancel next weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix.

As planned, the team bosses met with the F1 supremo this morning, shortly after the end of the first practice session for this weekend's Chinese Grand Prix, just a couple of hours after the sport's governing body gave the green-light to next week's race in Bahrain.

On leaving the meeting, at which it is understood the team bosses said very little, Ecclestone told reporters that everyone is happy to see the Bahrain race go ahead, once again blaming the media for scaremongering.

"Everybody's happy," he said. "We haven't got any problems. It's a problem being discussed by the media. They don't have any idea what's going on. That's the problem.

"This race is on the calendar, and has been on the calendar for quite a long time, and we will be there," he continued. "All the teams are happy to be there.

"The national sporting authority will keep us informed as to what is happening," he said, referring to the possibility of further protests in the Gulf state following today's news. "There's nothing happening. I know people who live there and it's all very quiet and peaceful. There has been enough speculation and things said, and I think it was a good thing to put something out. I suppose the right thing to do is to stop speculating and wait and see, then we will deal with the matter when it arises."

Asked by a Sky reporter whether he will be in Bahrain for the race, he replied: "What a stupid question!"
