FIA confirms DRS zone for Brazil

The FIA has confirmed that at this weekend's Brazilian Grand Prix, there will be one DRS zone.

The detection zone is in Turn 2, halfway through the Senna S, with the activation shortly after on the long straight linking Turn 3 (Curva do Sol) with Turn 4 (Subida do Lago).

"There will be one DRS zone on the back straight," says Race Director, Charlie Whiting. "We think this will be enough, as the main straight usually gives a good enough opportunity to overtake anyway, so we don't want to make it too easy.

"There are a couple of minor changes to the circuit," he adds, "but next year there could be something much bigger: we're hoping to build a new pit entry and a larger run-off around the last corner, but this is a big job as it will require removing a couple of permanent grandstands. We've had assurances from the city of Sao Paulo that they'll support this project."

The Drivers' Steward this weekend is Alex Wurz, the Austrian joined by Lars Osterlind, FIA World Council Member and Honorary President of the Swedish Automobile sport Federation and Roger Peart, President of the FIA Circuits Commission and President of Autorite Sportive Nationale du Canada.
