FIA confirms track works

The FIA has moved to ease concerns after last minute repairs were required for the Marina Bay circuit on Friday night.

Ahead of the opening practice session, during the support programme, a number of kerbs had worked loose, prompting a delay which subsequently led to the session being reduced to just sixty minutes.

A document handed to the media just ahead of qualifying lists a number of areas which have been investigated, and details all the work carried out - specifically mentioning eighteen of the circuit's twenty-two corners.

"The white line denoting the track edge has been moved one metre from the wall and the area behind it painted red and white with non-slip paint," the document reads in relation to the exit of Turn 3. Turns 5, 17 and 18 received the same treatment.

Elsewhere repair work was carried out to the existing kerbs to more rigidly fix them to the road. "The kerb has been replaced but with a shorter section, it has been more securely fastened using new bolts and epoxy resin," read the note against Turn 13.

Drivers had their first taste of the revised kerb layout in final practice on Saturday evening ahead of qualifying, both Lotus drivers reportedly happy with the changes.
