Schumacher to drive F2007 next week

Ferrari has confirmed that seven-time world Champion Michael Schumacher will drive the championship winning F2007 at Barcelona next week

"It's half for pleasure, half for technical reasons," said a spokesman, according to Reuters.

It's understood that the "technical reasons" refer to the new technical rules in 2008, whereby, traction control and other so-called 'driver aids' are banned.

A spokesperson for the German added: "Michael has a big experience in driving cars with no traction control and no electronic aids, so it makes sense for him to give his input.

"(Jean) Todt said that if Michael had the desire to drive the car, he would be happy to fulfil it," added the spokesperson, who revealed that Schumacher will drive on Tuesday and Wednesday next week.

The news follows comments made by Williams co-owner Patrick Head, who has twice admitted that he would not be surprised to see McLaren make a move for the former Ferrari star as a partner for Lewis Hamilton in 2008.
