Firman heads Ireland’s final A1GP test

After a successful outing in the August test when the team set the 4th fastest time on the opening day, Belmayne A1 Team Ireland returns to Silverstone circuit for the final A1GP World Cup of Motorsport pre-season test, taking place tomorrow and Wednesday. Having been confirmed as the team's lead driver for round one at Circuit Park Zandvoort, Netherlands, on September 30th Ralph Firman will resume testing duties as the team prepares for its annual assault on the world title.

The test will be the first on track outing for the team's refreshed livery, reflecting its title sponsorship deal with LM Developments which is promoting its spectacular Belmayne development in Dublin. The team's objectives this week are to undertake further set-up work on the car, give Ralph as much mileage as possible as he reacclimatises to single seater racing and practice the all- important pit stops which are a decisive part of race team strategy in A1GP.

Mark Kershaw, Team Owner: "After the last Silverstone test a lot of our rivals in the series were tipping us as one of the dark horses for season three. We don't want to get carried away with any hype, but the fact that they are looking over their shoulders at us already is very encouraging. With testing being so limited in A1GP these two days will be essential preparation for Zandvoort, both in terms of giving Ralph as much time in the car as possible and giving new members of the team more time to gel as a unit."

Ralph Firman: "It's great to be able to go into this test knowing that I'll be racing for Belmayne A1 Team Ireland at Zandvoort. We only need to find a few tenths to be running with the pacesetters and this test gives us the opportunity to fine- tune the car in preparation for round one. The more time I spend with the team the more confident I become that we can put in a very strong showing when we hit the track in the Netherlands."
