Despite assurances that all is well at McLaren, the Spanish media claims that Fernando Alonso is far from happy, and still hasn't made a definite decision on his plans for 2008.

With the British media taking Lewis Hamilton's side, it is inevitable that its Spanish counterpart defends its compatriot.

A number of Spanish publications today carry comments attributed to the World Champion, comments which suggest he is far from happy.

"There was no war between us or anything of that sort," the Spaniard is quoted as saying, in reference to the situation with Lewis Hamilton. "Logically we aren't the best of friends, but we respect each other. I don't have a problem with him and he doesn't have one with me and if one does have a problem it is with the team."

Referring to the Woking outfit, he appears to suggest that part of its resurgence this season is due to him, and that he feels he hasn't been suitably rewarded for his work.

"My belief is that last year McLaren were nowhere," he is quoted as saying. "I remember how the car was going when I tested it in December and how it went in Australia. Those sixth tenths of a second that I have brought when I got in the car for the first time haven't been reflected at any time when we two drivers have been competing against each other.

"That is basically the quarrel I have had for the whole season," he continued, "but who doesn't have problems with their boss?"

Looking ahead to next season, Alonso is said to have said: "I don't know where I will drive next year, it is impossible to know that. The only thing I am clear about is that I have a contract with McLaren and I can drive with them."
