With all eyes on its drivers, following events in Hungary, McLaren has issued a statement in a clear attempt to assure the watching world that all is OK.

Having opted to keep its drivers well away from the media spotlight on Thursday, the Woking team organized a 'clear the air' summit between Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton later in the day.

Consequently, the World Championship leaders issued the following statement this morning:

"The team has worked hard this season, and is currently leading both Formula 1 World Championships. The drivers clearly understand the team’s approach of providing them, to the best of our ability, with equality and the same opportunity of winning.

We discussed the events of Hungary with both drivers independently yesterday, following which Fernando and Lewis met in the hotel and found a constructive way forward.

We are now turning our full attention to the Turkish Grand Prix and the rest of the season."
