Ferrari boss, Fred Vasseur has reacted to speculation linking Christian Horner with the Italian team.

Speaking to The Times, Horner admitted that a role at Ferrari would be a "dream", thereby (re-) kickstarting speculation over the former Red Bull boss and the Maranello outfit.

While, with the aid of an investor group, he has sought to buy his way into a team, Horner admitted that he would be prepared to be on the payroll if recruited by the Italian outfit.

His comments come at a time the Italian media is demanding results from the 'national team', while there is talk of division with the outfit stirred up by John Elkann.

Though a new contract sees Vasseur remain at the helm until the end of 2027, at least, the constant speculation, as the Frenchman confirms, is diverting attention away from the case in hand, closing the gap to, and overhauling, Mercedes.

"We are not working in perfect serenity, if that is the question," he said on Friday. "For me, first, but for everybody on the team, for the media, for 50 percent of the questions about this, I think it's a bit of a frustrating situation.

"We are fighting for P2 in the championship," he continued. "At the end of the day, we are all speaking a lot about this, even the guys in the garage discuss this, it's not the best discussion that we can have.

"But it is what it is," he sighed, "it's not in my hands.

"Mr Horner is looking for a job," he added, "everybody knows, everywhere. But what can I do? Just try to do my best to push the team, to ask them to be motivated, focus on what is better today, and not to spend time with gossips. But each interview, it's been 25 times a day, I think we are coming back on this.

"This sport is my life," he continued, "it is my business, and I try to do my best. I'm here to do my job, and I have the best job in the world, and we still have seven races to go."

Asked if there is a scenario whereby he and Horner might work together, he smiled and replied: "You'll have to ask my assistant."

Meanwhile, as Charles Leclerc, much to the frustration of his PR, was revealing that he has been running the latest ADUO power unit, teammate Lewis Hamilton, when asked if the team is still on a good path with Vasseur at the helm, replied: "Yes."

Asked if there is "good unity" within the team, he looked awkward, before nodding and saying "Yep!"

Asked what the team can do in the remaining races, he looked awkwardly to his PR, before mumbling: "Keep trying."
