Renault remains tight-lipped as ING enters picture

NEWS STORY

Normally reliable sources at Renault are remaining tight-lipped as speculation over the identity of a potential new sponsor grows.

Originally, Pitpass heard the rumour that Dutch bank, ABN AMRO was involved in talks to become the French team's title sponsor, however, rumours then began to surface linking rival Dutch bank, ING, with the reigning World Champions.

Though Renault sources are adamant that they are unable to comment, or give the merest clue, ING spokesman Peter Jong has now admitted that there was interest in such a deal.

"F1 (would) provide us with a platform on all continents where we are active," he told Market Watch.

ING is already involved in sponsorship of the Netherlands' national football team, and a number of other sports, including various international marathons. There is also talk of the Dutch bank taking out trackside signage.
