BMW leads Honda at Jerez

NEWS STORY
20/09/2006

The two BMWs of Robert Kubica (right) and Nick Heidfeld set the pace at Jerez today, as Honda joined the German team at the Spanish track. The circuit was damp early in the morning session following overnight rain but soon dried out enabling the drivers to begin their morning programmes.

Heidfeld spent the first part of the day doing installation work, while some technical problems meant he was unable to start the major part of his work until early afternoon. He then worked on tyre compounds for Brazil, together with brake and set-up work. The German also continued with the work started yesterday by Sebastian Vettel on electronics for next season.

Kubica had a busy morning, and did not stop for a lunch break until 14.00, as he worked on tyre compounds for Brazil, concentrating on different compounds to the ones Nick was working on. The Pole also did some aero work for the last three races

Anthony Davidson and James Rossiter began Honda's final test of the 2006 season.

Davidson spent the morning working on chassis set-up, with Rossiter also completing some set-up runs, followed by an electronic systems evaluation.

Davidson completed a quick set-up run after the lunch break before running through the Brazilian Grand Prix tyre options. He also ran some electronic system checks completing a total of 120 laps. Meanwhile, Rossiter also worked on a tyre programme this afternoon looking at the tyres for Brazil. He finished off with a short aero evaluation, completing 119 laps.

Jenson Button will join the team tomorrow (Thursday) taking over from Davidson.
