Briatore hopes for Red Bull solution soon

With regards the placement of Renault powerplants in the back of the 2007 Red Bull, the first car to be 'penned for the Austrian outfit by Adrian Newey, Flavio Briatore remains hopeful that a deal might be agreed this week.

As originally reported by Pitpass, the Red Bull deal was part of a plan which would see the French engines in the Red Bull cars, along with (Briatore managed) Mark Webber.

However, Red Bull's plan to merely pass on thier Ferrari engines to 'sister' team, Toro Rosso, didn't go as smoothly as planned, with Ferrari insisting that its contract was with Red Bull, and Red Bull alone.

"We are in negotiations but it's not done yet," Briatore told Reuters, "it's only a done meaning when you sign the deal. But we are working to finalise it this week and supply the engine to Red Bull."

Avoiding the (sore) subject of Ferrari, Briatore revealed that the proposed deal is with Red Bull the parent company, rather than Red Bull Racing.

"After that it is a decision for Dietrich (Mateschitz) and Gerhard (Berger) to decide if its Red Bull or Toro Rosso," said the Italian.
