Valencia attempts to reduce noise

Officials at the Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana Ricardo Tormo have revealed that they are involved in a project aimed at reducing noise levels at the Spanish race track, used for much of the winter by Formula One teams for testing.

In addition, to sound absorbing panels, which will be placed around the circuit, with the aim of restricting noise, a new grandstand is to be erected, capable of seating an additional 5,000 race fans.

Circuit boss, Eduardo Nogués, said: "We have worked, with the City Council, for several months in order to reduce the annoyance the Circuit can cause, having realized it is to ensure the 'comfort' of out neighbours."

Nogués then thanked the circuits 'neighbours' for their patience during the work.

Earlier this year, the future of the Italian Grand Prix was put in doubt when a handful of 'neighbours' objected to noise emanating from the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, with a local court suggesting that cars be fitted with silencers.

Work at Valencia will be completed in October, well in time for testing for the 2007 season to get underway.
