Mexico City Grand Prix Preview - Red Bull

NEWS STORY
28/10/2026

Max Verstappen: "It was a more difficult race than expected in Austin, but we need to take the positives as we still managed to secure a podium.

"Going on to the second race of the triple header, Mexico has very different conditions compared to Austin, so it is difficult to predict how we will fare there. There are things we need to understand with the car first and the Team has been working hard on this. Hopefully we can be a bit more competitive in Mexico; it can be quite tricky to race here, with the altitude and the overheating, so we need to make sure have the cooling right and ensure the car is in the right window. The fans here are always so passionate, which is nice to see, and it will be an interesting race!"

Isack Hadjar: "As a Team, we all left Austin knowing that there was more on the table for us, which is a great sign of how far we have come this season. We go straight into Mexico looking to build on last weekend, fully focused on fighting at the front. Mexico will always be a special race for me. It was the track where I first drove an F1 car back in 2023, so it's always nice to come back. The passion of the fans is something you can really feel around the city and on track. It gets you going as a driver. It's great to now be third in the Constructors' Championship after Austin, so we arrive in Mexico looking to keep climbing as high as we can."

Ayumu Iwasa will drive in Max's car in the first practice session in Mexico this weekend.

Ayumu Iwasa: "I'm really excited to jump into the RB22 again in Mexico this weekend. This weekend is going to be my second time to drive at this track, so my experience last year will help a lot and I can hit the ground running. At the same time, the car is completely different to last year's regulations and it was with VCARB, so it will be interesting to see how this car performs. I will also try to use my experience of the last few FP1 runs with Oracle Red Bull Racing, which was really a huge experience for me. Obviously the altitude is a big factor around here and it is a cool circuit to drive and the fans are really passionate, which is good to see. I'm really looking forward to doing a session with the Team here."
