Kvyat explains 'octopus' comment

NEWS STORY
07/10/2016

Despite having had disgruntled former employees, defrocked priests, groundhogs, cats, dogs, seagulls and monitor lizards on track over the years, we thought we'd heard everything. That is until Daniil Kvyat complained of an "annoying octopus" during today's opening session.

"Oh no, the octopus is back," startled fans heard the Russian tell his team over the radio.

"It's quite a small one, a baby octopus," he added. "It's annoying."

Struggling to accept how an octopus might have found its way on to land, far less was making a nuisance of itself, fans awaited an explanation.

"That octopus Dany just mentioned, he's actually referring to tyre rubber that gets stuck on the aerial in front of him," Toro Rosso subsequently revealed in a tweet.

"In China it was almost hitting my visor so I was really struggling," the Russia explained later. "I was fighting it. But the one today was small, a baby one, just born.

"Considering what happened today, I will definitely go for some octopus sushi for dinner tonight," he added.
