No plans for talks between Hamilton and Rosberg after collision

NEWS STORY

Following their high-profile first lap collision at the recent Spanish Grand Prix, in which both men crashed out of the race, Lewis Hamilton and Nice Rosberg have no plans to hold clear-the-air talks. The hostility between the two has been ongoing during their time together at Mercedes, with both men failing to take responsibility for their most recent coming together.

With Rosberg having claimed victory in the first four races of the Formula 1 season to take a commanding lead in the Drivers’ Championship, the pressure was on Hamilton in Spain following his pole position in qualifying. However, with many pundits blaming the reigning world champion for the crash, Hamilton now faces the prospect of having to battle back from a 43-point deficit if he is to claim another title this year. Despite Lewis Hamilton’s early odds this season making him the favourite for glory, bookmakers Coral now make him the second favourite behind Rosberg with odds of 6/4 as a result of recent events.

With the Monaco Grand Prix up next in the F1 calendar, Hamilton will be hoping to banish past memories and claim what would be just his second career victory at the most famous of circuits. Since becoming team mates in 2013, it is Rosberg who has held the upper hand around the principality street circuit, with two victories from two pole positions to date. Despite his dominance, Coral offer both men equal odds for victory going into the race of 6/4.

Kimi Raikkonen of Ferrari has taken over Lewis Hamilton in second place in the standings, as his team search for a maiden victory of the season. As a result of their inability to overcome both Mercedes and Red Bull to date, it is the German team who are 1/25 in the Formula 1 betting odds to claim yet another Constructors’ Championship come the end of the season.
