At long last, following the usual delay due to self-interest and failure to agree on anything, it appears the much anticipated regulations changes for 2017 are about to be confirmed.

"It was planned for the end of February, but because nobody can decide these days it was postponed until April," said Christian Horner in an interview with the official F1 website.

"As we already know with a fair degree of certainty what the regulations are for next year, I should think all teams are now balancing their resources between 2016 and 2017," he added.

Asked the 'cornerstones' of the regulations, he confirmed: "The cars will have more downforce, more mechanical grip. They will look more aggressive and be more of a challenge for the drivers.

"It is not carried as far as we would have liked," he admitted, "It's a compromise solution... so let's see. It is better than standing still."

In reaction to Pat Symonds claim that the late agreement on the rules will favour the bigger, better resourced, teams, such as Red Bull, Horner said: "We've always enjoyed regulation changes on the chassis side. The team relishes the opportunity. That is the car side. Power unit-wise we will have to see."

"By "more of a challenge to drivers" do they mean actually requiring more skill or just that they'll be more exhausting to drive due to higher G forces? More grip, especially through more downforce, means quicker cars but not better racing."
