Quaife-Hobbs gets second F1 run

Adrian Quaife-Hobbs completed a second test for the Marussia Virgin team at the wheel of the MVR-02 at RAF Cottesmore on Wednesday.

The Marussia Manor Racing GP3 driver clocked up over 120 miles at the Leicestershire airforce base, taking his total to more than 215 miles in a current-spec F1 car.

Twenty-year old Adrian first drove the MVR-02 in May at the Idiada Proving Ground in Spain where he completed around 90 miles, testing the team's updated aero package. On Wednesday he travelled to RAF Cottesmore to carry our further evaluation work on the car as the team worked to get a better understanding of the aero configuration.

"It was a very productive day and I'm happy to say the car once again was a pleasure to drive. To be asked to play such a role in the development of the MVR-02 aero package once was good, but to be asked back a second time really underlines their faith in me, which is particularly rewarding and I hope proved useful to them."

"It was another solid day of testing with the MVR-02 for Adrian," added team principal, John Booth, "who has continued to acclimatise well and get to grips with the car. It was another productive test for us and it's always good to see that we can rely on young talents like Adrian, who responded well again to the opportunity he was given and takes another step forward in his career."

Quaife-Hobbs will return to race action in GP3 at the German Grand Prix at the Nurburgring, over the weekend of 23/24 July, on the back of his maiden victory in Valencia and his first pole position at Silverstone last Saturday. With his consistent pace now producing the results he deserves, the BRDC Rising star goes into the next double-header rounds with renewed confidence of a return to the podium.
