Ahead of Q1, the air temperature is 34 degrees C, while the track temperature is 56 degrees. It continues to be sunny and the hottest it has been all weekend.
Russell topped the timesheets this morning, as he did in FP2, but it would appear that the Ferrari is quickest on the straights. Indeed almost all the cars powered by the new Ferrari engine are very, very fast.
However, it's not just about sheer pace here at the Temple of Speed, for there are various other factors to be taken into consideration.
In the opening phase traffic will be an issue, it always is, while a number of drivers have fallen foul of the track's low grip. Then there is energy management and, of course, this being Monza, slipstreaming.
Hamilton was second quickest earlier, ahead of Verstappen, Antonelli, Norris and Leclerc, with Lindblad a very impressive seventh, ahead of a clearly frustrated Piastri. Alpine has also looked strong for much of the weekend.
Overtaking is comparatively easy here, certainly compared to some tracks, so grid positions are not that important, nonetheless nobody wants to spend the opening laps tomorrow working their way through the field, even if that is what Antonelli has in store.
While the world championship leader will start from the back of the grid for taking on a new engine, he will be joined by Albon and Lawson who have followed suit.
Like Antonelli, as they are due to start from the back of the grid, Albon and Lawson will be expected to help their teammates with a tow, and in the case of the Mercedes and Red Bull drivers this will mean getting through Q1 and Q2 into Q3.
Then again, we are expecting a yo-yoing fest tomorrow, particularly in the opening laps, and the big guns are going to want to take every possible chance of avoiding this.
Despite the traffic issues, we've seen a number of drivers practicing giving the tow to their teammate, which in turn has led to even more traffic issues, and we expect this to be the case over the next hour.
Despite his complaining Verstappen appears competitive here, but in reality it appears to be a simple case of Mercedes v Ferrari.
Green light and Lawson leads the way, followed by Stroll, Bearman, Albon and Sainz. Resigned to starting from the back, and his duty to aid his teammate, Lawson is on mediums.
Leclerc leads Hamilton out, while Norris is the first of the McLarens.
Lawson posts a 24.103, but Bearman responds with a 23.877 and Sainz a 23.736.
Norris complains of no power and no brakes.
Hamilton goes top with a 22.847, but is soon demoted by Verstappen (22.631).
Piastri goes third, ahead of Leclerc and Bortoleto, as, despite his various issues, Norris stays out.
Tsunoda is understood to have a fuel leak.
Russell is on mediums, as he follows his soft-shod teammate.
Norris goes fifth with a 23.004.
Russell is quickest in S2, finally crossing the line at 22.79 to go third, as his teammate goes second.
A 22.662 sees Colapinto go third... his teammate having gone top with a 22.612, 0.019s up on Verstappen.
Leclerc can only manage seventh, 0.290s off Gasly's pace.
Sainz remains thirteenth as Bearman goes eighth, unlike his teammate he has the latest Ferrari engine. Talking of Ocon, he goes sixteenth, 1.279s off the pace.
Now on softs, Lawson improves in S1, but not by much. At the line it's a 22.989 which puts him tenth, the kiwi quickest in the final sector.
Verstappen and the Ferrari pair have opted not to run again, while Alonso has given up entirely.
Piastri locks-up at the first chicane, thereby destroying his lap.
Norris goes third (22.659), as Lindblad goes fifth.
Gasly remains the pace-setter as Bortoleto goes twelfth and Sainz sixteenth.
Quickest in Q1 is Gasly, ahead of Verstappen, Norris, Colapinto, Lindblad, Antonelli, Russell, Hamilton, Leclerc and Bearman.
We lose Tsunoda, Albon, Bottas, Perez, Alonso and Stroll.
Again, Lawson leads the way, followed by Verstappen (on used softs) and Sainz.
Lawson crosses the line at 22.828, while Verstappen stops the clock at 22.573. Sainz posts a 23.870.
"The car is broken on the rear axle again, it is underivable in Turns 2, 4 and 5," reports Verstappen.
Next out is Antonelli, followed by Russell and just about everyone else.
Once again, in the opening sector, Gasly appears to be the pace-setter.
Antonelli crosses the line at 22.334, and Russell at 22.161, however, Gasly, Norris and Piastri (22.017) are quicker.
Leclerc can only manage eighth and Hamilton eleventh.
"My seat is moving," reports Antonelli, who adds: "Can I drive not alone every time?"
Lindblad goes sixth and Colapinto seventh.
Lawson leads Verstappen and Sainz again, the two Red Bulls much closer this time.
Lawson remains thirteenth while Verstappen improves to fifth with a 22.188.
Leclerc heads out to get the final assault underway, he is followed by Hamilton, Bearman, Lindblad and Antonelli.
Verstappen is now leading Lawson, who almost trips up over Piastri at the first chicane.
Piastri and Hulkenberg have been noted for a pitlane infringement.
Lawson fails to improve on thirteenth, he's out.
Antonelli goes purple in S2, as Hamilton goes tenth.
Antonelli goes top, Lindblad seventh, Colapinto eighth and Bortoleto eleventh, the Brazilian 0.001s off Hamilton's time.
"That's absolutely appalling," says Lawson of Piastri. "I can't believe how bad... he just left me out to dry."
Told he just made the cut, Hamilton replies: "Oh, *** me!"
Quickest is Antonelli, ahead of Piastri, Norris, Gasly, Russell, Verstappen, Lindblad, Colapinto, Leclerc and Hamilton.
We lose Bortoleto, Bearman, Hulkenberg, Lawson, Sainz and Ocon.
The Piastri/Lawson incident is to be investigated.
