Organizers of the maiden Indian Grand Prix, due to take place at the end of October, say the circuit is ready for the event and promise a "successful race" with no glitches.

"Our and our country's reputation is on the line," Manoj Gaur, executive chairman of the Jaypee group, told reporters yesterday. "We are responsible people and we will deliver a successful race.

"The track is ready and the homologation of the facility will be done in July as per the timetable of the FIA," he added.

At the same time, it was revealed that the 3.19 mile circuit, located 25 miles from New Delhi, is to be officially called the Buddh International Circuit (BIC), after the region in which it is located.

Speaking of the £240m project, Gaur said: "Somebody had to come up with that size of investment. And it's a privilege to do something for India. Before the champions are born, we have to give them the infrastructure. We are not owners of a team but we have passion. Maybe in five years we will see an Indian team winning and that will be the biggest satisfaction."

Jaypee group managing director, Samir Gaur, said that ticket prices would probably start at £35, with grandstand tickets likely to be around £475.
