Law firm sues Hispania

NEWS STORY

The international law firm DLA Piper has revealed that it is taking action against Hispania Racing over unpaid legal fees stretching back over a year.

"These fees have been outstanding for more than a year and despite frequent reminders, Hispania Racing have failed to pay," John Everett of DLA Piper told Sportbusiness.com. "They have given us no reason for non-payment. We are forced to the conclusion that they are unable to pay and hence are commencing such proceedings."

Despite speculation in the media and Bernie Ecclestone's claim that at least one current team will not be on the grid next season, Hispania insists that all is well, with team boss Colin Kolles last week saying that the Spanish outfit's financial situation is "improving".

DLA Piper - which was formed in 2005 as a result of the merger of three international law firms - is a global law firm headquartered in London and New York. It is one of the biggest law firms in the world, with revenues in 2008/2009 of £1.45 billion.

Perhaps it could sponsor Hispania.
