Senna out, Yamamoto in at Hispania?

NEWS STORY
08/07/2010

It is being widely reported that due to money problems Hispania is dropping Bruno Senna for the British GP weekend and replacing him with Japanese test driver Sakon Yamamoto.

Although the Spanish outfit has yet to officially announce anything, it is understood that a statement from team boss Colin Kolles is forthcoming.

If this is the case and Senna is dropped, it bodes ill for the future of the team, coming days after Bernie Ecclestone told Pitpass business editor Chris Sylt that he feared that at least one of this year's entries would not be on the grid in 2011.

Senna is popular in the UK and his absence would disappoint race fans, the Brazilian - nephew of the legendary Ayrton Senna - having said earlier today how much he was looking forward to the event.

"I love driving at Silverstone, it's a unique place and feels like my second home Grand Prix," he said." The atmosphere is great, with so many fans turning up for the race, and I have always been fairly successful here. This weekend I'll be pushing hard for good lap times and am confident that we will be very competitive with the other new teams."

Yamamoto, who made his F1 debut with Super Aguri in Germany 2006, drove in six further events for the ill-fated Japanese team that season and another seven outings with Spyker in 2007.
