FOTA meeting with Mosley "constructive"

NEWS STORY
22/05/2009

Having previously confirmed that the ten members of FOTA stand united and will not contest the 2010 championship if the FIA goes ahead with its budget cap plans, the organization subsequently met with Max Mosley.

The ten teams that form FOTA - the Formula One Teams' Association - had previously held a three hour meeting aboard Flavio Briatore's yacht, eventually emerging to announce; "We will not enter the championship with these rules and with this governance."

Following this evening's meeting with Mosley however, while the teams clearly remain united there are some signs of progress.

"We had a long, productive meeting," said FOTA and Ferrari President, Luca di Montezemolo. "We will have another meeting tomorrow, and then we will meet Mosley again."

Talking to BBC Sport, Mosley said: "We had a good constructive meeting and there are on-going discussions. We spent three hours in there. Everybody knows what the issues are. I'm confident there will be an agreement."
