Kubica continues at Valencia

NEWS STORY
21/01/2009

Having essentially shaken down the new car yesterday, today Robert Kubica drove the F1.09 in anger, putting another 99 laps on the clock, as the German team continued the evaluation process.

The Pole concentrated on set-up work, the main task of the day being the testing of different brake set-ups and different tyre compounds.

"Although it was quite windy in the afternoon, the conditions were better than yesterday because the track is building up grip with every lap I drive," said Kubica. "The progress we made during the day shows that we are moving in the right direction with the development of the F1.09."

Kubica completed 99 laps as well as conducting several race start simulations. In the morning he deliberately stopped on the track when he carried out a so-called fuel run-out, a standard procedure with every new F1 car. No times were issued.

The Pole continues here tomorrow before handing over to Nick Heidfeld who is in action on Friday and Saturday.
