Spain is where it is all at, vows Dennis

McLaren boss Ron Dennis, a late, unexpected arrival at Sepang at the weekend, has sent out a clear warning to Ferrari, BMW and his team's other rivals, you haven't seen the best of McLaren yet.

Following an emphatic victory from Kimi Raikkonen, which saw the 2007 World Champion finally open his, and Ferrari's 2008 account proper, Dennis said that nobody can really judge the form of the teams, and that all will become clear once the championship returns to Europe.

"We don't really know what our pace is at the moment," Dennis told reporters at Sepang, following yesterday's race. "We won't really know how competitive our car is until after Barcelona.

"As I have said before, Australia, Malaysia and Bahrain are very different circuits and do not reflect the true pace of the car," he added. "Barcelona will be where it is all at."

With Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen demoted five grid places on Sunday, following an incident during qualifying, the team suffered further with a puzzling tyre choice for Hamilton's second stint, not to mention a disastrous pit stop when the Englishman's right-front wheel became stuck.

"Once we were in clean air we were able to have the pace and that was the advantage of leading the Grand Prix, like we did in Melbourne," said Dennis. "If this is our worst weekend of the year then we will take it.

"The only drama we had in the race was the seized wheel nut," he continued. "That effectively took away a third and fourth place for us. Other than that it was a fairly uneventful race, where the pace was dictated by back markers.

"But leading both championships at this point in the season is not a bad place to be in," he added, with a grin.
