iSport headed to the south of France for the mid season GP2 test at Paul Ricard on 19/20th June. The weather was hot and sunny throughout the two days and provided ideal testing conditions for the coming races.

Day One

With Timo's test being cut short due to his F1 testing commitments, he only had the first morning on track. He had some specific tasks to get through in a short space of time, which were all completed successfully and he declared himself very happy with his car. Timo ended the morning session second only to team mate Andi Zuber before dashing off to Silverstone.

The bulk of the testing duties, therefore, fell on Andi's shoulders. Andi was on sparkling form for both days, which always helps to make the testing data more valid, so we made good progress in evaluating different set up options for the coming races. From Andi's point of view it was important to test the new spec 1st gears that were available at this test, so numerous runs and simulated starts were made to build confidence in the new components. We all hope that those problems are over and that Andi's pace can now be translated in to results. Andi finished the day comfortably fastest and happy with some good set up options for different conditions.

Day Two

Andi continued as a one car test and raised the bar with the fastest ever GP2 lap of the 2D track, outpacing his rivals by almost 6 tenths. The morning drew to a close the development work, so after lunch the team did some pit stop practice and some more start simulations and finished early. Andi still topped the times in the hotter afternoon session without specifically going for a time. Andi is driving so well at the moment and is very confident in his car; it should be a matter of time before he gets the results he deserves.

Both drivers have the potential to score well in Magny-Cours and Silverstone, so the team head to the next two races in an optimistic mood.
