Engine change for Alonso, but no drama

NEWS STORY
20/10/2006

Renault has opted to change the engine in Fernando Alonso's car, however, no penalty is incurred and the team is keen to point out that there are no problems.

Whereas the French team is still using a 'D5' spec engine, the engine now fitted in the Spaniard's car, like the T-car, features a few "different parts".

"After the final results," a team spokesman told Pitpass, referring to recent dyno tests at its Viry factory, "we swapped them, as the T-car version proved to
be best.

"There's no big drama!" he stressed.

Since the engine was changed before the first practice session, the Spaniard doesn't incur a penalty.
