Jerez test gets underway

NEWS STORY
13/07/2005

A three-day test, involving the seven Michelin teams, gets underway at Jerez today (Wednesday).

On duty will be:

BAR: Jenson Button (Wednesday & Thursday), Takuma Sato (Thursday & Friday) and Anthony Davidson (Wednesday & Friday).

McLaren: Kimi Raikkonen (Thursday & Friday), Juan Pablo Montoya (Wednesday & Thursday) and Alexander Wurz (Wednesday & Friday).

Red Bull: David Coulthard (Thursday & Friday), Christian Klien (Wednesday & Thursday) and Tonio Liuzzi (Wednesday & Friday).

Renault: Giancarlo Fisichella (Wednesday & Thursday), Franck Montagny (Wednesday, Thursday & Friday) and Heikki Kovalainen (Friday).

Sauber: Felipe Massa (Wednesday & Thursday) and Jacques Villeneuve (Friday)

Toyota: Jarno Trulli (Thursday & Friday), Ralf Schumacher (Wednesday), Olivier Panis (Wednesday, Thursday & Friday) and Ricardo Zonta (Wednesday, Thursday & Friday).

WilliamsF1: Nick Heidfeld (Thursday & Friday), Antonio Pizzonia (Wednesday & Thursday) and Nico Rosberg (Wednesday & Friday).

This is the last major test before the August break, as there is no testing between the German and Hungarian Grands Prix.

Assuming that all seven teams do take part in all three days of testing - and that no days are lost due to adverse weather - this will bring the amount of test days that the teams have used up during the season to:

BAR (23), McLaren (24), Red Bull (20), Renault (23), Sauber (18), Toyota (24) and WilliamsF1 (23).

Nine of the F1 teams have agreed to a 30-day testing limit during the season.

Minardi, which is not testing this week, has used just 3 days of its allowance, while Jordan, which joins Ferrari at Paul Ricard on Thursday, has used 8 days to date.

Ferrari, which is not part of the 30-day agreement, has already tested on 48 days (including Tuesday 12 July), with the Italian team running at two circuits simultaneously on a number of occasions.
