What boycott?

NEWS STORY
07/01/2005

Suddenly there is more talk of Ferrari boycotting the French and British Grands Prix, following on from claims made by rival teams - around the time of the Brazilian GP, when Minardi boss Paul Stoddart was collecting the autographs of rival team bosses on behalf of Bernie Ecclestone - in a dispute over money.

Although the Italian team has continually denied it had any intention of boycotting any races, the subject has once again reared its ugly head.

Speaking in London yesterday, at the public unveiling of a major new sponsorship deal with the Royal Bank of Scotland, Frank Williams told reporters that all the teams - except Ferrari - had agreed to the compensation package offered by F1 supremo, Bernie Ecclestone.

Ferrari has never said that it would boycott any races, it's only dispute with its rivals being the proposed test limit, though since Brazil several teams appear to have done an about-turn on the initial proposal.

Contacted by Pitpass, a spokesman for the FIA denied that there was any issue with any of the teams regarding any of the races.

So, what boycott.
