Max Verstapepn has revealed that he will contest the GT World Challenge at Portimao later this month.

Speaking in Sepang today, the Dutchman revealed that two of the regular drivers for his Verstappen Racing team, Dani Juncadella and Jules Gounon, are contesting the 6 Hours of Barcelona WEC event, and therefore the team owner will take over.

I know that two of my drivers won't be part of the line-up, so two other drivers need to step in and I'm looking forward to it," said Verstappen.

"It's going to be a busy seven weeks," he laughed, alluding to the fact that the event takes place on the one weekend off between two of the remaining triple headers, "but we'll do it and I enjoy it anyway. So, yeah. Let's see what we can do there."

Asked if he might call on the services of (Le Mans winner) Fernando Alonso, who recently talked about the Dutchman's GT exploits and hinted at a surprise in the coming weeks, Verstappen said: "No, he's not driving with me. So, I don't know what he means with that, but no.

"From my side, it's all clear," he added. "We know what we want to do. Of course, I would have loved to see my normal drivers compete, but the calendar has changed at times and that's okay. I mean, I love Portugal, I love being in Portugal, so we'll try and have a good weekend."

Asked how he prepares himself for such a demanding schedule, he laughed and replied: "I think I had four or five months of very intense preparation, deep mental preparation of not giving an F! So, yeah, I just rock up."
